✦ Swelling and bruising are most noticeable during the first week. ✦ Mild puffiness, tightness, or temporary asymmetry is common during healing. ✦ Temporary blurred vision may occur if ointment is prescribed. ✦ The under-eye area gradually softens and settles over 3–6 months.

✦ Keep your head elevated while resting during early recovery. ✦ Avoid rubbing, pressing, or pulling on the lower eyelids. ✦ Do not wear eye makeup or contact lenses until approved by your surgeon. ✦ Avoid strenuous exercise, bending forward, alcohol, smoking, saunas, and heat exposure during early healing. ✦ Use prescribed eye drops, ointments, and cold compresses exactly as instructed. ✦ Protect healing skin and scars from direct sun exposure.

🩹 Incisions & Scarring

✦ For a transconjunctival approach, the incision is placed inside the lower eyelid, leaving no visible external scar. ✦ If loose skin also requires correction, a fine incision may be placed just beneath the lower lash line. ✦ In some cases, the incision may extend into a natural outer-eye crease for optimal skin redraping. ✦ External scars generally soften and become increasingly discreet over time.

Do I need under eye fat repositioning or lower blepharoplasty? 👀

Under eye fat repositioning is generally recommended when eye bags and hollowness are the main concerns and the skin is still relatively firm. Lower blepharoplasty may be more suitable when loose or excess skin also needs to be removed or tightened. Your surgeon will recommend the best approach based on your skin elasticity and under eye anatomy.

Will fat repositioning improve loose skin and wrinkles too? ✨

Fat repositioning smooths the contour beneath the eyes, but it does not directly remove excess skin. If you have noticeable skin laxity or fine creasing, lower blepharoplasty or an additional skin tightening treatment may be recommended for a smoother result.

Will lower eyelid surgery change my eye shape? 🤔

The goal is to preserve your natural eye shape while creating a smoother and more refreshed under eye area. Skin is removed conservatively to maintain the natural position of the lower eyelid. If your eyelids have weaker support, your surgeon may recommend an additional supporting procedure to help keep everything balanced.

Will I need additional fat grafting? 🌱

Possibly. Fat repositioning uses the fat already present beneath your eyes, but there may not be enough volume to fully correct deeper hollowness. In these cases, additional fat grafting may be recommended alongside fat repositioning or lower blepharoplasty to create a smoother and more balanced under eye contour.
